Hector commenced his career in 1973, with Ernst & Young and later with Price Waterhouse. Both these firms were in the top ten Chartered Accountancy practices in Australia and have that distinguished position today. They played a significant role in his professional life, principally in the area of auditing. During that time Hector worked on some of the prime clients of the respective firms, initially as a graduate / accountant and was subsequently entrusted with managing their larger audits. He then spent a number of years with the internationally renowned pharmaceutical company Ciba Geigy, as Audit Manager responsible for their Australian operations.
As an internal auditor with Ciba Geigy, it gave Hector an in-depth exposure to audit and general accounting systems. It also allowed him to interact with management at an operating level, thereby developing his skills on a personal level.
After spending an initial nine years of his career in the auditing environment, Hector established the accounting practice currently known as VLL Partners (formally VLC Partners). As a partner in public practice for the last four decades, he has expanded his knowledge and skills into the areas of taxation and has built a large client base over the years, from which many have developed into life-long friendships.
Throughout this time, he has always kept a “hands on” approach in relation to all client matters. Together, with the other partners, they have seen the organisation grow through various economic cycles from a small practice of three people to a successful personalised practice, with a team of over 20 accountants and support staff, with the vision and plans for expansion in the future.
Hector is dedicated to the firm's philosophy of personalised quality service and is a strong advocate of a relationship-based consultancy. His diverse experience in taxation, business consultancy and audit has enabled him to assist clients in improving their profitability, taxation planning/management, wealth creation and asset protection.
